Allayer provides leading edge products that accelerate the design of very high performance Optical Networks. Today's systems can use such products as the AL1022 and AL3000 for Gigabit Ethernet over SONET or Packet over SONET applications. This year, Allayer will be releasing its first 10 Gigabit products and a chipset based on Allayer's revolutionary ORoX™ architechture for OC-192 systems. The ORoX architecture is the industry's most scaleable, flexible high performance architecture available that enables systems designers to accelerate time to market by up to 12 months.

Media Converters

The AL210, introduced in the second quarter of 1999, created an entirely new category of products: the intelligent CMOS fiber optic transceiver. The AL210 is a single-chip transceiver that converts twisted-pair Fast Ethernet (100Base-TX) signals into fiber-optic Fast Ethernet (100Base-FX). The chip also supports redundant fiber links for fault-tolerant connections that are important for network backbones. The device is fully compliant with the IEEE802.3 standard.

Ethernet/Packet over SONET (EOS/POS)

The AL1022 dual-port Gigabit switch device can be used to design a OC-48 SONET to Ethernet Router. With the AL3000 IP Packet Processor, the AL1022 dual-port Gigabit Switch IC, or the AL126 8-port Fast Ethernet Switch IC, and an ALPOS48 OC-48 to LAN switch device, a SONET to Ethernet Router can be designed using just four devices.

Optical Access

This chipset is in development and includes an OC-3 and OC-12 full wire speed VPN access router on a chip. Further information is available on this chipset under NDA. ORoX (OC-192 Packet Processing)

This chipset is in development and includes a 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch, MPLS processor, an OC192 packet processor and the patented ring architecture for high bandwidth packet processing applications.
