Allayer switch products utilize the advanced RoX and RoX-II (Ring of Switches) bus architecture. RoX-II supports a 100 MHz bus clock and a 32-bit parallel data path for communicating network information between RoX-compatible devices with an aggregrated 12.8 Gigabit/sec data rate. RoX is ready for both today's Layer 2 systems and tomorrow's Layer 3 systems.
Scalable, expandable, low-cost and high performance, the RoX bus makes possible the inexpensive (in price and in design time) addition of new and additional features to a basic switching system. For example, an 8-port Fast Ethernet system can be created using just one AL100. Additional Fast Ethernet ports can be supported by adding additional AL100s. Then, management features can be added with the AL300. Then, Gigabit uplink ports can be added with the AL1000! Because of the flexibility and power of the RoX bus, a family of systems can be created easily and cost-effectively.
