SVNL Test Reports

The Silicon Valley Networking Lab has released a report comparing the performance of industry leading Fast Ethernet switching ICs. Download it here

 Key Facts and Figures:
Allayer chipset showed 100% bi-directional throughput
Allayer exhibited no Head-of-Line Blocking at 24 ports
No frame loss in a fully meshed traffic test at 24 ports

The Silicon Valley Networking Lab, Inc. benchmarked a commercially available workgroup switch based on Allayer's AL100A Fast Ethernet Switch IC. This independent test group benchmarked the Allayer-based switch system against two other same-class commercially available switches based on two other silicon suppliers: Galileo and Broadcom.

The report concluded: "The AL100A is a highly integrated silicon that provides a feature rich, high performance, competitive merchant silicon solution for the switching market. The Allayer silicon was the only one to support Fast EtherChannel trunking and to exhibit no Head-of-Line blocking across all ports (at 24-ports and for all frame sizes)."

The report went on to say, "In addition, Allayer showed wire-speed bidirectional throughput for all frame sizes, exhibited no frame loss in the fully meshed traffic test, and showed low latency across all frame sizes. (It has) value added features such as VLAN, trunking, broadcast throttling, optional RMON and SNMP support and (a) high performance architecture."
